Auto to 6 speed conversion on an 06?
If you had a wrecked 07 5.9 6 speed and wanted to take all the necessary parts off it and change my 06 from an auto to a 6 speed what all besides the obvious hard parts would be needed to make the swap? Can the ecm be reflashed and made happy with the six speed? Any help is greatly appreciated!

This is something I am very interested in as well. I know the obviouse parts but what abought driveshafts and cross members? Are they the sme or different? Stearing colum as well or can you just swap some parts around on the colum and get diferent plastic to cover it up? can the computers be reflashed or do they need to be replaced? Will they just plug in if replaced or are the conectors diferent? Anyone with a 6 speed wana park trucks side by side and start swaping parts?

You need to make up your mind which six speed you want. The G56 has a lower ratio OD and turns roughly the same rpms as a NV5600 with a 4.10 in OD with the 3.73 rear. My Preference would be the NV5600. My last truck had 203,000 miles on it when I sold it. Changed the clutch at 185,00 miles.
Anyway, you'll need the Bellhousing, throwout arm, and tranny with shifter and boot to start with. After that, the under the dash stuff for the clutch pedal, Shaft and Pedal, the rear transmission mount and driveshaft unless you want to cut and spin yours. I'll guess 3500.00 dollars minimum.
Buy a Clutch Kit consisting of a Flywheel, Clutch disc, Pilot Bearing, Pressure Plate, and Throw out bearing.(800-1100 dollars) Buy the Hydraulic system that attaches to the clutch pedal and bellhousing. (150 to 230dollars)
Try and get the trim piece for the floor hump since your fold down drink holder will now longer work.
Don't know about the computer issue. Don't think there is problem there. I'm sure there are a few more minor things I've forgot.

I have been thinking about trading my 07 5.9 stick for an auto since I dislocated my left hip a while back and it gets sore at times. Tell me about your truck if your interested. Mine has around 30,000 miles on it and its like new.

I wouldent buy all the parts. Like the OP I would locate a junk yard truck and strip parts off it or find someone with a 6 speed that wanted an auto and trade parts till we were both happy. If I got junk yard parts I wouold sell my factory parts to help cover some of the cost. It may all be a moot point for me if my budie comes threw though. He wants my truck in the worst posible way and I shot him a price and he said if his banker will finance him he will take it. If that happens then I will be on te lookout for an identicaly equiped truck with a 6 speed. If not then I wana keep this one and swap tranies.
