Thanks for the info. I ended up going to Aamco on Rt 1 in Portsmouth. I got a code p1753 which is the trans throttle valve actuator. The serv. manager took me right away diagnosed the trans . and ended up changing the actuator by the afternoon and I was good to go. That was Monday and as of today Truck is shifting good. Thank again for the info.

Do you have an 05? Helps a lot to post your truck infor when you looking for a diagnosis. The Throttle valve sticking is a common problem. If you have had your trans for some time, you would have an older valve body. All of the Valve bodys ATS installs for the last year or so would have one of their new TV sleeve in it, and this prevents sticking. Also the O5 has the TV motor on the outside of the trans and it can go bad. Glad you got it fixed and are back on the road.

It is an 06. Coming home yesterday from vacation pulling my camper the trans started doing the same thing it did two weeks ago. I limped it home and hopefully will be getting it into the shop Monday. No codes.

Just curious,,, did you get a Valve Body assist with the trans? Some times when you install an aftermarket trans, especially if you have a little added horsepower, it will start in 2nd once it's warmed up. The VBA solves the prob and usually comes with all ATS trannys.
Also have someone check your governer pressure and transducer. That is the number one part sold by Dodge. They are junk, no matter where you get them, and don't last long.
Now back to the Throttle valve motor. If that is what the other shop replaced, and it seemed to help, but now it's back, it very well may be the throttle valve in the valve body.
ATS has had so many problems with them that they finally started sleaving them so they won't stick any more. The valve side wall will get scored from the motion of applying over and over again, and will stick. It can be very random. A good tranny shop can probably figure this out. And it shouldn't be a big problem to fix.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

I just ordered a Stage 1 Trans from ATS I dont know if it came with a valve body assist. I have not added any Horse Power engine is stock. If ATS has had so many problems do they change out the valve bodies when there is a problem under warranty or do they justcover the bad part? I went with ATS because of the 5yr/500,000 mi warranty and there reputation. Hope they dont play games. Dropped the truck off at the Trans shop last night hope to hear something by the end of the day.

Yes they are awesome about taking care of the customer..
You may want to give them a call and let them know what's going on. then they can stay in touch with the tranny shop you took it to. I had an 02 and just put a 5 star converter in it. Ran awesome, then one day it started out in 2nd gear. I had a feeling it would happen because I was in a hurry and didn't take the time to put in the VBA.
Well keep us updated. And as I said, I would call ATS and let them know what's happening. 800 949 6002

Turns out to be the Throttle Valve actuator again. Aamco is repairing it under warranty again saying the part is defective and it did throw code p1753 again.
Spoke to ATS and they said if it happens to be the valve body they would send the shop a new one that I would have to pay for and I would have to send the old one back to them to get credit. I hope it was just a defective part.

Starting in 05, they put the TV actuator on the trans, instead of the old fashioned linkage. Called a TV Motor. They are a big PIA,, High failure rate. Hope that's all it is.

Truck broke again. Called ATS Tech dept. they said what you said about the throttle valve sticking. Trans shop is checking idle press. and stall press. then I have to get back to ATS and they are going to determine the next step. But I think the valve body will be getting replaced. They will repair it under warranty.

Well guess I'm not the only lucky one now. My issue was never get out of 1st. So far Burnt bands. 4 VB's 2 full trans. They did take care of it for sure but great warranty doesn't mean much if you have to use every other month. So 2nd full trans now VB #2 which has all the lastest greatest. So far seems well and working. Wish you luck man.
