Sorry for resurecting this old post, but I'm looking for anyone who has more feedback for this transgo kit on the 48RE tranny.

Also, where is the best place to buy the kit online?

Thanks

I posted this same question yesterday and all replys are positive so far. Most did the install themselves, some had a transmission shop do it. Nice firm shifts, positive converter lock-up, and has worked well over time.

I found the kits on ebay. Look up item #170085555265 on ebay motors/car and truck parts/transmissions. $64.95/$7.95 shipping from Oregon.

I have also seen the Transgo shift kits at various parts stores, but don't know if they have the SK48RE.

I put the transgo in my 06. my 3 to 4 shift is at 3000 rpm, and the shifts themselve could be firmer. Line pressure is 80psi at idle in gear and 150 with the convertor locked at 1800rpm. I would like the wide open shifts to be sooner, The power falls before the shifts.

Anybody got any input?

I put one in myself a month or two ago. Everything seemed ok, but my front clutch started to fail and the 1-2 2-3 shifts were messy. Maybe the tranny was worn before install (90k miles), but I am not sure.
With the rebuild, I went with dunrite's kit. Much, much, much (did I say much?) better.
Just FYI

Did you do the rebuild yourself? I have the 06 service manuals and the play by play looks pretty simple. I know the tolerences are pretty loose in the manual. I assume that with the extra clutchs and the billet pieces that should tighten things up.

No.. no time. I'd rather let somebody who has done it for 20 years do it right. I'd suggest the same!

i have one ,that was installed on a fresh rebuild, and new converter etc, i hate it, and it will be coming out in favor of some thing bought and installed.
i think that they are probably good with the gasers but not the diesels. the d's like line pressure, and lower shift points compared to the gas trucks. they are too generic i think. i will go one one of the vendors that just do the diesel trucks.

I just had a TransGo shift kit installed on my truck with 80K miles on the truck. First impressions are positive, I can definately feel the firmer up shifts. It seems like the famous light throttle mid gear confusion had dissapeared.

The only question or comment i had, as i coast to a stop with very light or no throttle, i can feel the transmission downshift into first gear. Is that normal with this kit?

The transmission shop which installed the kit for me, told me they drilled one hole for the converter lock up, would that be it?

Thanks,
