Anyone sell engine covers? dress up acc.
Does anyone out there sell any type of engine dress up kits such as chrome or aluminum engine covers, alternator covers, battery boxes etc...? I did a search but couldnt come up with anything. I found somethign for hte 2nd gens on Cummins website but it was a complete kit with some new parts such as alternator and stuff that i dont need. If someone could post a link or gimme some info i would very mush appreciate it. Thanks

Barrett no there's not much unfortunately. Check this post out on TDR though. And while you are over there check out my Reader's Rigs pics to see what I did to my valve cover

What would be the cost to take the engine covers and have them chromed? or have a machine shop make some stainless steel covers? Hey I might be onto something .

Vaughn,
Thats a sharp looking engine you got. Is it ok to run with the cover off like that all the time? Did you paint the exhaust manifold and the turbo yourself and if so what did you use?
I like the pics of the one with the flame airbrush work dont on it. I was actually thinking of doing a polished diamonplate aluminum cover to fress up the battery boxes and engine cover. Just trying to see what others have come up with.
Thanks for the postings...

Barrett no you can't run with the cover off at all otherwise oil would sling all over the place. I had to take it off to do the work on it, it was easy to remove. I just didn't drive my truck for a week
I used Por-15 exhaust manifold paint on the turbo/exhaust. It held up fine 'til I got my EGTs up doing some acceleration runs, then it began to blister off
The valve cover I used Krylon engine paint. So far so good there
