I used a 4" holesaw for mine.. Worked perfect...but mine is a drw so the ends of the lockouts are flush with the centercap

Smooth Ride with New Hubs

I never had any problems with vibrations. With the new hubs, it's like the truck is coasting along. There is a noticeable improvement to the feel of the truck. I always thought the truck felt good and now it is even better. I was interested in getting the small improvement with fuel mileage and stopping the wear in the parts. The improvement in the feel of the truck alone was well worth the cost. It makes sense to me now that all those parts turning all the time is not good. 04.5 2500

anyone else with free spin hubs, it you grab the front drive shaft with hubs open and spin it does only your drivers side axle shaft spin? I know the front diff is open but my passengers side axle shaft doesn't spin when turning the front driveshaft either direction... I thought the front open diff would spin one wheel in forward and the other in reverse but maybe not? then why even have an axle shaft on passengers side?

What is Dynatrac getting for their upper and lower ball joints(these are two words I don't want to abbreviate on this forum)? The taxman was REAL good to you!

Jest thank how much it will cost! Then thank how longer you are going to keep your truck? You can by a lot of fuel for that money. I could not come out on top at that cost!

Why buy the 35 spline outers, (unless you change the diff ) When I belive the inner axels on late model trucks are 32 spline. I think thats what it was when we replace the hubs on my 06, It wasn't 35,

That simply means that either the passenger side hub is locked or that side has a little more friction somewhere than the other side. Probably the brake is dragging a bit more on the passenger side. Try locking he drivers side hub and make sure the passenger side is free. Then turn the driveshaft again. You'll see the passenger shaft turn. An open diff always spins the axle with the least resistance.

That kind of honesty baffles me... Some people say they get 4 mpg gain with the hubs, and others none.

Some say they get 2.5 mpg gain with the Helix 2, and some none?

As for all my mods, I've been in the "no mileage increase" category when hand calculated...that includes exhaust, AFE stage II, intake horn, helix 2, wild rail, gear splitter, smarty, tst, edge ez, ts mp-8, amsoil synthetics everywhere, and everything else people claim as mileage gains. After all the above, I'm still getting 15 mpg.

I hoped after doing hubs soon, it would bump me up to the 20 - 22 mpg some others here are claiming!

both hubs have to be free in order to move both outer shafts. I can do it easily by hand in 2WD and both hubs in the "free" position.

ya but ... what mileage gains are folks actually getting by switching to freewheeling hubs. however one does it...

in fact a more valid question is how much better mileage does a 2wdr cummins get vs a 4x4 both stock, both 5sp to make it fair.

You have to consider the weight difference when comparing a 2WD and 4WD too in order to make an accurate comparison.
