My truck runs flawless so I won't be getting it reflashed.

So this flash is for everyone and not just CA?

Were you planning on renewing your registration in Ca? Read all the notice. No update=no renewal. They got us.

That's what I understand. I'm sure Marco's hard at work on this one also.

I already had the recall "done". I know who will be SMOGging it so there should be no issues.

Edit: "The ECM on your truck(VIN:yourvinhere) may fail to accurately report diagnostic system information with some generic scan tools"

My vehicle will be SMOGged at a dealership so I see no reason for a reflash.

Well I got the letter, however it isn't worded anything at all like the CA letter that I'd read on here. Mine reads more like they're extending the warranty on the ECM to deal with the issue. It then goes on to explain the issue and how it "may" affect you. This letter uses the words "limited" and "may" like they're going out of style!

I'm not going to worry about it. If for some reason I need to fix it in the future I will. I still feel sorry for you CA guys!

Don't feel too sorry for us here in Cal, you're probably right behind us. There are many diesel guys around here that have modded there trucks to make as much smoke as possible. You have probably even read here asking about how they can get more smoke, oh yea that is sooooooooo cool. For those of us that are stock it will be a minor PITA, for those modded out with non carb approved mods it will be more fun.

BigIron70:

Is it possible to remove the K01 flash and rollback to some previous version?

I have 07 5.9 and I will pass for now until I know more.

My wife has an 08 Camry! It was running just fine until they did the recall....

I keep hearing of this recall. When I had my truck in for the steering linkage recall I asked about this. The service manager said he knew nothing about it. He looked again on the computer but there was nothing listed for my truck and I have gotten nothing in the mail or with my new registration forms. It's fine with me. I'd just as soon they don't muck with it anyway.

BTW they charged me $24 to reset the TIPM and flashed it for the higher current.
Mine did that too after the dealer convinced me to get the update. My service manager told me it was normal......

Also noticed that my mileage is down considerably after the flash. Looking like about 1-2mpg, 3-4 when towing (hand calculated).

retrospect.....I was an idiot for letting him talk me into it - I know better.

Marco has new software that loads on it. I had to update my software to get it to load.
