Any Suggestions for a new tranny?

I recently had my stock Tranny go out on me. Well I hope it was the Tranny. Either way, I want to either beef up my Tranny by rebuilding it or replacing it. I talked to a few Trans shops and they all told me the same stuff. But I was also looking at the ATS Trans. Is it worth the extra money? Or is there another alternative to go with? I do a lot of Towing and off-roading. I have a trailer that weighs about 19K lbs. I need a trans that can handle about 450HP. Any suggestions? Its for an 06 Dodge 4x4

I have an ATS trans/conv/co-pilot and with only 5000 miles I've had to replace the valve body(took 3 wks to get them to send the new one) and now the co-pilot. So, with that said.......

If I had to buy a new trans., I'd go with Goerend. I'd also do the full billet shafts for the piece of mind that I'd never snap any of the shafts. Since you do some towing/off-roading I'd recommend the shafts, 'cuz if you snap a shaft it's gonna be really expensive to replace.

That's my .02 worth.........and many others, just look at the sigs. on the high perf. section.

Adding to what I said above..... I hear that Dave (Goerend) has exellant cust. service. He'll bend over backwards to help his customers.

With ATS, it like pulling a tooth to get them to do anything. This is from my experience. They have the warranty but getting them to make good on any of it is another story....... They are supposed to be shipping out a new co-pilot today.......see how long that takes for me to actually recieve it. Like I stated on the vb, that took 3wks and 4 days to get to my house.

I had mine built and installed by Ray's Transmission (ATS Dealer and Installer) in Fort Worth and they use some ATS parts like the 5 Star TQ and Flex Plate at my request, extra clutches, Transgo Shift kit, even used some billet valves rather than the plastic ones. The cost is much less and the 150k nationwide warranty is great!! Have been to Denver before and have had ATS work on my Allison a few years ago but now just have it done here. While it was in had a remote trans cooler installed and the ATS Aurora 3000.

Oh Yeah, get a sfi flex plate.(ebay- $120) You'll be testing the stock one if you don't. There are pics of ripped flex plates which in turn take out the conv. $$$$ front pump, input shaft.........

Go to high perf. section and type in search box goerend trans., that should get to threads that has his (dave's #). He's the man behind the trans., but there are dealers in areas across the good ole USA (for now, til OBAMA takes over)

Have you checked out BD Diesel Performance? They are in Western Canada and make very goods stuff. I visited their facilities once on their "Dyno Day" a few years back and I was impressed with these guys. Any search for billet transmissions, TCs and trans controls is not complete without checking with BD.

Dave is in IOWA but has dealers/installers across the states. Can you do your on swapping of trans.?? You can save some labor costs, it's not that hard to do if you have a heavy duty jack-stands- trans. jack and hand tools.

Nothing is bullet proof, I don't care whose name is on it.
