I have a 2004, 4 door, long wheel base, 4x4 tha shifts fine till it get in 3rd then it locks the TQ and never unlocks it for the 4th gear shift. At least that is how it feals. Thanks in advance for any ideas Mike

 

To tell if its locking in 3rd and not unlocking until it goes into fourth is to give it a quick "Blip" of the throttle while still in third. Not smash it to the floor quick but more like just a little push of the pedal. If the RPM's rise somewhat quickly then its unlocked. If the eninge lugs a little and the RPM's raise a little then its locked. Try this first to see if its really locking in third. Also maybe you put it in Tow/Haul?

I gave it a try. Here is what I found. It shifts 1/2, 2/3, 3/4 and drops 150 RPM's each time without locking till 5-10 sec after the 4th shift. Then Locks the TC and drops 600-800 RPM's kinda hard. If I put it in tow/haul mod then it will lock in 3rd.

 

my 03 does the quick shift thing dropping 150-300 rpm between shifts but after 40 mph in 3rd it drops almost 1000 rpm when everything locks up and shifts at 45. If I'm pushing it hard, it waits to do the lock up until 50 mph.
