Annoying tic under the hood? I found mine... EASY fix.

Mornin, DTR.

I have had this tic tic tic under the hood for a few months now that is constant... I always had one right at start up, but it would always go away within a few seconds.

I've been poking around under the hood, touching injector lines and what not. This morning, I grabbed the #5 line hard and held it, and the tapping stopped. After monkeying with it for a minute, I found that the isolator (blue plastic/rubber with metal on the outside) was loose. When I tightened it up... no more tic!!!!

I made a vid, but you can not hear the tic stop and start.

If someone needs a pic, let me know.

I'm beside myself. My truck sounds like it did when it was new...

Yes, this is a common problem w/ #5. It can even cause fuel to leak, and the smell lasts for weeks.
If you have not checked this on your trucks it needs to be done..

Is #5 the 5th one from the front?

Yes, I checked all of mine and got a little on all, #5 about a half turn.
I think it was a 8 MM or 10MM wrench I used.

How tight do you tighten the injector if it's loose?

I'm not talking about the injector, just the insulator...

The injector involves a lot more.

Cool. I'll check it out and see if the insulator is the cause of the ticking. Thanks.

Just look at the injector lines, they have a blue and brass part on them. I'll take a pic and load it in a few...

Although I haven't checked under the hood yet, a pic would be helpful.

The insulator on the metal line. There is an 8mm bolt on one side, tighten her down, and put a little goo on the back side.
