Amsoil ATF vs competition

Is Amsoil ATF the best auto tranny fluid? If not what would you use to prolong the life of the tranny the most. Are there any kinds of additives to use? I know the truck comes with synthetic but there must be something better than factory oil.

Only speaking for myself. It is what I use and it has performed flawlessly for me and will continue to use it. However I am sure there will be differing opinions on this subject.

As others have said, it's the only thing I use and love it's performance. Runs cooler and protects better than anything else I have used (dino).
Give it time and someone is bond to jump in and say different

Thumbs up

Amsoil is all I use in everything I have for many years. The '92 D-350 CTD I just retired has almost 209,000 on the original 47RE tranny always towing 6-7,000lbs.
I will be using it in the 2004.5 48REwhen it's time. Amsoil Supershift in my 904 race car trans.
With synthetics being more resistant to heat and breakdown and heat is the #1 problem causer, it seems to be the natural thing to use!

When people talk about oil changes and how often and what oil to use. Their are more then a few good oils out on the maket. But how I ever have to change my oil because I installed a Frantz Filter and it has kept my motor oil continuously clean. I can hear you now does this work.
“The Frantz Oil Cleaner/Filter is better because it is more efficient. Its tissue element provides a greater depth of filtering media through which the oil must pass (4 1/2" of depth filtration) thus permitting it to remove more contaminants and solid particles of a much smaller size than the conventional bypass filter.”
I’m very please with the results. I work in a lab and have taken samples after using the system at 3k and 6k and the oil looks the same as the day I put it in.

First, I suggest you fill out your signature so we will all know what truck you have.

I use the MOPAR ATF +4. Despite what all the Amsoil fans say, Amsoil ATF is NOT acceptable to DC for use in the 48RE trans when it comes to warranty. A 7/70 warranty is worth protecting IMO. If you do the fluid change yourself and use +4, save your receipt for warranty purposes. If you don't use +4, never mind.

The MOPAR ATF +4 is a full synthetic. I just did the first fluid change in my '04. Texas Dodge in Amarillo charged me $3.83 per quart for the +4 and $18 for the filter. I suspect the Amsoil will be double that. Your will still have to go to the dealer for the filter as the aftermarket does not have one available yet. Actually the aftermarket also doesn't have the +4 either. You don't need a gasket as it's reuseable.

This is all JOIBO, but oil questions do generate response, which are all also just opinion. You pays your money and takes your pick.

I like the Royal Purple line of Oils, very good oils.

I will use the ATF+4 in my trans as I do want to keep up my warranty.

Amsoil is the best.....just ask them

We've had trannies come in failed that ran Amsoil. It's not a cure all, but if it makes you feel better go ahead and spend that money. I've always ran the +4 in my rigs. Maybe Amsoil is good, but their pyramid scheme like sales structure has always made me leary. If it's so good why do I have to go to this special dealer to purchase it........which is interesting because most here scream bloody murder that you have to go to the dealer to purchase +4, but yet you can't run to Wal Mart, or Autozone and buy Amsoil either......interesting.

I think that has been changing also.... use to be you had to go to someone house to pick up the product , on my bike I use it and order it direct from the factory, but have notice the local auto parts houses do carry full line of Amsoil products.

Been buying Amsoil products for 6 years or so.Big Brown delivers normaly in 2 days.I buy direct from Amsoil. As far as tranny warranty goes no one has a clue to what ATF is in your truck or what not.I've worked dealers 25 years and that question has never been ask by ANYONE ever.I've used Amsoil ATF in any thing with a auto for 6 years or so.Smoother shifts even over Atf+4.I could care how Amsoil pays its reps or jobbers or who.Haven't found a product of theirs I don't like.Even use their tractor hyd.oil in a New Holland tractor.Lift is smoother, brakes and clutch at ALL temps.

I've been using Redline C+ for 12,000KM - Definitely lowers trans temps, smoother shifts, and quieter operation.

Why do you care about smooth shifts, isn't that a sign of wear and tear in a tranny? THese autos are so goofy shifting as it is.
