Alternator bearings - anyone ever replaced 'em?
My alternator on my Excursion squeaks to beat heck, comes and goes, sometimes worse than others. It was hard to figure out where it was coming from, however due to the process of elimination it's the alternator...
I had this thing apart once to wire up my tach... Seems simple enough, just don't know where to find bearings for the thing? Hoping to minimize downtime by having the bearings on hand when I take it apart.
Anyone done this before?

Should be able to pull a number off of the bearings and take em to a parts store. If you got a few miles on it, I'd just replace the entire unit.

I replaced a lot of them in older cars . 6203 17mm used to be the front brg for all 3 brands. I always just put some new grease in the back cup/needle brg. Craig

No reason to replace the entire thing, these things are expensive...
Thanks Craig, I'll make sure my parts store has one of those in stock and I'll pull it apart. If it's changed, hopefully I can get one in short order.
