I like the elbow because water and dirt don't have a straight shot at the filter. I suppose it is not really needed, but it allowed me to use a hose clamp and add some screen to the end to keep the larger stuff out. No problems yet with water, but I may try some type of outerwear material instead of the screen.

I put a amsoil dry filter on my k&n tube. Amsoil makes a direct replacement for the k&n intake filter.

When I bought my truck it had a K&N air filter.. After reading this post I went to the auto parts & bought a standard filter & installed it last night.. The standard filter in much much smaller than the K&N that I took out

I basically have 2 filters. I run the AFE PG7 normally. It is a 7 layer oiled type filter and have never had any dust residue in the intake tube. K&N basically uses a 2-3 layer gauze which allows more particulate matter through especially in a turbo application.

As a backup when cleaning my AFE PG7 I run the AMSOIL Dry EAA189 filter.

Both are for the stock airbox of which I have a 3inch hole cut with a drainage cap and ~2.5 ft of flex tube attached to draw colder air from down below.

Do you have the number, my uncle is an amsoil dealer and I am sure i could get one through him.

No. Here's the stock# of the new,deeper 5.9 one: 53034249AA. Hopefully,Genos will get some in. The discounted sites aren't showing this # yet but it's supposed to be accurate.

I made my own PSM intake of sorts. I mounted a 4" PVC flange on the bottom of the filter box and meant to run a 4" tube to the same location the PSM intake goes. I never got around to doing that.

Anyway I was looking at some pictures of MPI's twins setups where the filter is pretty low, just forward of the primary turbo. I was curious as to just how much water would get into the filter.

Tonight on the way home it was raining like crazy, I was in traffic running behind folks as well as hitting a few puddles. I thought about the MPI filter location and decided to see just how wet the area would be. I was very surprised that the area was totally dry. Nothing on my cool hose or anything in the area. After seeing that I think you would really have to get into some serious water to get the filter wet with the PSM setup. I went through some pretty hard rain tonight and the area was dry as a bone.

I use the True Flow XDI. I felt more power the first time I stepped on the pedal so I think it gave me something like 10-12hp.

I saw one the other day at the dealership. Its HUGE!!!

I am on my 2nd amsoil, the first needed cleaning every 1000 miles. If this one is no better I am going back to stock (will be the only stock filter on my truck)
