it ACTUALLY worked. WOO HOO!!
been having lack of power issues with my 03 3500 with 220 ks on it. been like that since i bought used at 100k. never thought much bout it as it is my first diesel, until i rode in a friends diesel. my truck sucked! ran bullydog twice and superchip once. and went through 3 trannys in a year. having now idea what to do i came on this site. got many helpful ideas. found a link to reset my APPS sensor. did not work the first time, but it worked the second time. WOW! i actually have some power.
disconnect batteries
turn key to run
wait at least half hour
turn key off
reconnect batteries
turn key to run and slowly press throttle all the way and hold a couple secs
slowly release peddle
turn key off
wait then start
this actually worked. i am so stoked. try it if you are haveing power issues. i also have bout 2.5 more mpg around town. good luck guys and thanks a lot.
on another note. tranny mech did a volt test on tps or apps sensor. it says i am only getting .5 - 3.5 volts. thinks that is low. dont know if it still is, will have it checked out again real soon. how can i adjust. TIME TO GO DRIVE MY AWESOME CTD. no longer is it crap

Another way to do that and easier is to unhook your batteries, after they are unhooked, touch the positive and negative cables together, this will clear the ecm. Saves you a bunch of time

Don't know the voltage parimeters but I suspect your APPS or alias throttle position sensor is getting bad. One day it will crap out. When, only those with mistic powers can tell. My thoughts are that's the reason resetting it allows it to function properly again.

thanks. add that to the increasingly big list of things to buy/do to my truck. my truck STILL runs awesome today. finally had power to get her muddy and finally not need a tow out from a k car. where should i add fuel psi sensor to. what part of fuel system would be best?

OK, being a newby owner, and time replying on this excellent site. What will clearing the ecm do? Is it something that someone should do regularly, like with a computer? Thanks in advance. And thanks for all the great info.
