AC Problems
So, I have been sitting here for a few hours now reading on problems others have had with the A/C. I am having some mixed feelings on what my problem could be.
My scenario is as follows
For a few months now I have been having a surging issue. Come to find out the surging was being caused by the AC clutch cycling by the second. It is very random. I have not been able to find any pattern to it. Some times it works fine...sometimes it cycles every second. I constantly have it on recirc floor and dash, all the way cold. I have the local shop do an evac recharge on it and said it was a little high, but that did not stop it. I just got back from a road trip to chicago and about half way back the compressor just quit. Tried playing with the buttons, with no result (previously this technique had worked). Drove 3 more hours with no AC.
After getting home and reading on here, i have tried running water down the condenser, which did not seem to help, and tried wiggling the harnesses and didn't notice anything. Now if i go out there and start the truck, when i push the AC button to on, the compressor cycles exactly 6 times and stops. I repeated this 4 times with the same result.
Any ideas??? I was going to buy a kit (compressor, drier and expansion device) but i don't want to spend the money on the wrong parts if i didn't need to. My other problem is that it is out of warranty, and even if i did take it to a dealer, the closest one is over an hour away.... Thanks guys

There is only one pressure transducer in our trucks A/C system.
My A/C cycles rapidly until the fan catches up and starts cooling the condenser down or I start moving forward and get air moving across the condenser. I think my fan clutch is slow to engage. Rolling down the highway I have great a/c performance, come to a stop light or when I first start the truck and it cycles and puts out warm air. I had some gauges on it while it was doing this and the pressures were sky high. As soon as the fan clutch caught up the pressures dropped to normal and cold air was coming out the registers......
I think you may have been having the same issue, but the pressure probably blew out the safety valve on the bottom of the compressor.

Well, if you had no luck ask someone if they got a schematic as im not sure.
I would be looking for a defective switch or something.
Definitely there are people on here that have experience greater than me in trying to troubleshoot your issue. Good luck my freind.
