ABS USELESS in SNOW!
#91
Having driven in snow for many years and done quite a bit of off roading for work I can tell you from experience on certain surfaces as has been mentioned you can definately stop better without ABS. I finally pulled the fuse after almost going off the side of a slippery mountain trail because the ABS would not allow the tires to dig in and I kept picking up speed.
If you stop faster with ABS by all means keep it activated. If there are circumstances that make it safer to disable then by all means do that as well!!

As far as a switch to disable the ABS which resets everytime you start the truck (instead of yanking the fuse), it sounds pretty straight forward.
You will need a DPDT relay and a momentary pushbutton switch. Remove the fuse from the fuseblock and install two jumper wires going from the old fuse location to the DPDT relay with an inline fuse to keep the fuse in the circuit. With the relay off (unpowered), wire the two jumper wires into the relay so it makes a complete circuit.
Now for the disable funcion--Using a key on power wire source, wire the relay so you push the momentary switch, it energizes the relay, which cuts the ABS circuit (ABS warning light comes on in dash). In order to keep the relay energized after releasing the momentary switch, the other side of the DPDT relay is wired to keep supplying power to the relay coil until the ignition switch is turned off. At which point, the relay goes dead and reactivates the ABS circuit.
Sorry, no pics or schematic for the above explanation. Perhaps someone could sketch it for me.
