Since your truck is under 5 years old its real hard to get aftermarket parts, I bought all my parts directly from cummins including a head on my re-build, cost a little under $5k excluding injectors and turbo. If you do need injectors and turbo I would go with a complete re-man from cummins, out the door there $7500 for everything. All these prices were based on an 06' so might be a little cheaper for you.

i am not looking for aftermarket parts. i already have an hht turbo and a wicked diesel injection pump. i found a rebuild kit for $2,200.00 and that includes the valveguides even. i figure with machine work i will spend around 3,200 to 4,000 . i would like to find the best price possible. so, if anyone knows of anything cheaper let me know.it does have to be quality cummins parts though. thanks

Sounds like a pretty good price you've already found, the machine work won't cost quiet as much as your expecting, if your going with boring and sleeving the block and turning the crank. Make sure if your going with a rebuilt head to get the thicker head gasket from cummins. Hope everything goes smoothly for you.

thanks much for the reply, I think I am going to be checking my injectors a little closer as I have just read on another forum that a bad injector may be the culprit behind all the loud, crazy sounds that my 04' started making...

Well upon further examination-removed injectors and checked the nozzles-it appears THAT is not my problem...did not see any cracks in the nozzles as specified by Lenny at Dynomite Diesel-who is a great guy by the way-it appears that I am going to have to remove the oil pan and check the bearingsof all the times for this to happen-like there is a good time-I can't afford to have it looked at for lack of money...

Luckyyyyyy! I have an 86' Ford non turbo diesel as a spare, but it's better than nothing. I am going to take my injectors in tomorrow to have them checked out by a fuel injection place here in Austin...it has to be injectors, a bad bearing wouldn't cause blow-by out the tube or the oil fill. I guess we'll see....

A bad ring on a piston or a scored wall will though, is your truck burning any oil quick1sr?
