The outher day at work i pulled in a 05 cummins reg cab long box 2500, 6sp and 4x4 And it had Reverse all the way to you and down. My 04 has reverse all the way away from you and up?? So what trans does my truck have? the g56 or the nv5600?

 

All the way out and up is a NV5600. To you and down is a G56.

Thanks, now what should i put in the trans for fluid?? my truck has 106k on it and i doubt it has been changed. I just got the truck.

Your NV5600 takes Mopar Manual Transmission Lubricant p/n 4874464.

 

What can i get from a parts store that is as good. Or local dodge shop the guys there a jerks. I supose the next time i am in the "city" i can get a few quarts. how many will it take?

 

If you have the time, use advanced search and type in NV5600 G56 (or something like that). You will find many a heated debate regarding that question. Makes good reading

 

Royal Purple Synchromax is working the best in mine and I just discovered Checker is selling it now. I've used Amsoil MTF and it was good but shifted too stiff when cold. You can get Ams to your door. There doesn't seem to be one lube that works best for every truck. The 6 spds are fussy. Craig
