5600 Hard Shifting
#17
Just wanted to provide an update. I know have about 2,000 miles including one camping trip pulling my 2,500# boat while loaded with a 2,400# truck camper. The rattling is just as bad and I can't stand having the truck sounding like something is broken. Would be one thing if I had gone with a dual disc heavy duty clutch, but I stayed with stock set-up. The way it is, it is actually embarrassing.
So this weekend, I'm pulling the transmission again to throw in a Mopar clutch, possibly my original clutch. I checked the wear and it is only about 50% worn so I'll get another 100k out of it at least (original has 169k). By which time I figure the pilot and clutch release bearing will need to be replaced anyhow. Or, spend the $290 for a new one.
Would have just kept it originally, but I had no way of judging how worn my clutch was until I had a new one to measure the difference.
