5600 getting harder to shift
almost 4k on the clock and it is occasionally getting harder to shift. worse when warm. once going down the road works just fine. not really hard to get into gear, the difficulty is in going side to side. has always been somewhat difficult to get into reverse. i remember that someone had a similar problem posted on here in the past -- but I cannot find it and do not remember if he ever had a fix for it. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I had a 2001 with the NV5600 and it was hard to get into reverse at first. It will get easier once you get some miles on it. Don't know about your shifing problem though, I never had that problem.

YEP!
You can waste a day or more without the truck for them to tell you......
Thats Normal for these trucks! They ALL shift like yours!

Mine did get better with some miles on it; but the best improvement came with the first oil change.
I went with Amsoil 5W-30 in it for the first time, and MTL the second. I'll be putting the Amsoil back in when I do it the third time.

It might not be a bad idea to take it to the dealer and at least have it "documented" that you are experiencing problems, in the event something really does go wrong down the road.
These transmissions do seem to be slow shifting & notchy. I changed my fluid to the Pennzoil Syncromesh (approved by DC) at 15,000 miles and didn't notice any improvement in shifting quality. A lot of people do seem to like the Red Line MTL, although, I do not believe it is DC approved.
With such low miles on your truck, I think I'd let the dealer handle it. If you change fluids to something unapproved, they could say that is what caused your problem.
