Question 50-55% power

Son had to run with fuel light on ( low fuel) for some time, did not run out of fuel. He has a Edge programmer on his 2006 5.9l. Now he only gets 50-55% power any thoughts?

Change the fuel filter? might have sucked trash up off the bottom of the tank.

I would also remove the programmer to see what happens

OK found the trouble. Son read codes from Edge programmer and had a 1753 trans. code, did not get a check Eng. light. Found he was a little low ( 1 qt.) on fluid, has a ATS tranny. Added fluid cleared code, drove all ok full power.
