Thinking about purchasing a 2006 5.9. I found one. Truck runs smooth as can be. This would be my first diesel truck so I'm no expert. Does this sound normal or like there is some injector knock?


Truck starts up with no problem after 2-3 cranks cold starting. No smoke at all.

Hard to tell could be FCA or injection pump out of phase. Listen with mechanics stethoscope and try to isolate location of noise. Cylinder kill test to locate cylinder can also be done.

 

My truck sounds the same. I was told its common on the 2005-2006 due to the extra injection event these trucks have for emissions. Drives me nuts.

 

Sounds normal, it would have to be pretty loud knock to pick up over camera recording.
