4WD Service Light Diagnosis?????
2006 2500 4WD Larami Diesel Heavy Duty
4WD Electronic switch transfer case
4WD Service Light is on.
I have no DTC codes showing up on my Inonova 3100 CanOBD2 code reader with the reader plugged in under the steering column.
Is there somewhere else to read codes that will give me any ideas about what the problem is?
Does anyone know what sensors are connected to the 4WD Service Light that would cause it to come on?
Here's some of the symptoms the truck is exhibiting:
1. 4WD Service Light is on, truck drives fine, but sometimes feels like it is in 4WD High, front tires grab while turning. This does not happen all the time.
2. Truck will not go into 4WD High or Low. 4WD Switch is not working, probably because the 4WD Service Light is on. This is a good thing, I believe.
3. 4WD High Light is not on.
4. 4WD Low Light is not on.
Are there any codes that might show up when doing the dash board test holding down the odometer/trip reset button and turning the ignition key to the "on" position?
I have tried reseting the TIPM by disconnecting the battery and turning the key to the start position for 30 seconds, then reconnecting everything and starting the truck. Light still comes on.
I have checked all the fuses, they all are ok.
This is really frustrating!
Thanks ahead of time,
Terry

I think it is time to get a bottle jack out and lift one of your front tires in the air and try to spin it.
If it spins your four wheel drive is not engaged. Keep driving until resolved.
If it does not spin, your four wheel drive is engaged and you will need to resolve that ASAP before continued operation on dry pavement.
Excessive tire wear would be a minimum consequence leading up to U-jount failure and possibly transfer case damage at a maximum consequence if you continue to operate....
