4wd poss problem?

Tonight is really the first night that I had a reason to use the 4wd on my '06. So I drove from home to work, no real problems. About a block from work I got an indicator on the dash that said SERV 4WD. Anyone ever seen this and what kind of issue did you have? I did not get any codes doing the ignition cycle, so I am wonderingif there is in fact a problem. I will still get it checked anyway, but curiosity will kill me first.

Read your owner's manual

If you have the dashboard switch for 4WD, that message means something is unhappy and you need to take it to the dealer. At least, that's what the manual for my '07 says. I didn't read it real close since I have the manual shift transfer case.

Assuming you have the dash switch, If the light on the **** is off, its probably a blown fuse. #52 or 57 I believe. Have you ran through water lately? I had a problem of every time it rained, the fuse would blow losing ability to go into 4wd, and giving me the "SERV 4X4" light. Water would get into the plug and blow the 4x4 fuse. After having to replace the fuse about 5 times, I took some dielectric grease and RTV sealant and went after the plug that goes to the switching motor for the 4X4. So far so good.

I hate those new 4x4 switches... The manual stick shifter works awsome. Ingages really quick and no need to back up when diengaging...
