48re tc question

Does DC have a upgraded tc for our 3rd gen dodges with 48re. If not what would advice for a daily driver and occasional tow 12,000lb fifth wheel.

DC does not have a upgrade. If you tow heavy or plan on adding some power, it is highly recommended that you get a after market TC/VB. These two together will help prolong trans life and driveability.

Search for Goerend, HTS, DTT, and others on the forum and you'll turn up hundreds of topics on this issue.

Apparently they do have a heavy duty TC that comes with their Heavy Duty 48 re that you can only get as a replacement unit,I have a copy of the brochure on it.Why would they just not make these trannys bomb proof from the begining. How much more would it have added to the cost of the truck? I recently had my tranny overhauled under warranty aand at that time asked Dodge about the upgraded tranny and they said there was no such animal, but then said when my warranty is up they would be happy to help me beef up my tranny?????I should have showed them the brochure, but since I would have had to pay extra anyway,I would rather put that money toward a built tranny from some outfit that knows how to make a built tranny, and its not Dodge.Just wish I would have got the mannual now.See attachment for more info.

When DC and GM merge do you think that they might put a Allison transmission in our trucks.

I'll take a full billet from Goerends anyday over a OEM "Heavy Duty" 48re for that price

For what you tow, Call Goerend and order their TC and Valve Body. It's the best $1600 you'll ever spend on your truck.

I spent almost $500 trying to get a TransGo shift kit installed and set up correctly by a shop in my town, only just to order the TC and Valve body from Goerend after all.

I even did the install myself, which was surprisingly easy. Don't hesitate, just do it.
