48RE help
Can anyone tell me where the check valve is on the transmission cooler lines for a 48RE? One line has a brass coupling/fitting where the hard line joins to the flexible line at the fenderwell - is the valve in that brass fitting? If so, how do I rejoin the lines once that coupling/fitting is removed?

thread from the dead, but have the same question here...
another post I found mentioned drilling the check valve out.
Just wondering what I need to do to get it removed...

The check valve is in the brass fitting. The brass fitting is a flare fitting so disassembly and reassemble is no problem. BUT the check ball doesn't come out! You have to drill the end of the brass fitting to get the check ball out. There is a retainer spring, a retainer disk and a check ball in there, be sure to get them all. I was able to get at the brass fitting through the front of truck, just beside the inter cooler by removing the inter cooler to intake manafold connector pipe. Would be very handy to have a quick connect disconnect tool to completely remove the hose from the truck.
I had to remove the check valve for a valve body upgrade. That has been several thousand miles back, tranny works fine without it.
