47rh vs 47re

Hey guys, had a question. I did a manual to auto swap not too long ago, and tracking down the electronics ended up being a complete nightmare (I went 47RE in my '03 CTD)
Well, a good friend of mine is now wanting to do a similar swap. I have warned him that his best bet is to try and find someone that wants to swap from auto to manual, so they can just swap parts off each other's truck.
Well, he wants to keep his stick, in case he wants to go back, so that rules that out.
So, I told him that I was pretty sure the 47RH was not electronically controlled, and he could go that route. HOWEVER, Im not that familiar with that trans, so figured i would ask you guys:

Will a 47RH work in a '04 CTD, without having to run electronics/wiring/PCM? If he locates a 47RE/48RE, can it be "converted" to a 47RH? I would think just changing the valve body would suffice, but again, not sure and is why Im asking.

I already know that the 03-04 trucks have a seperate ECM/PCM for engine tranny, and is why I had such a hard time doing my swap.
