how do i tell if i have a 47 or 48re trans??

 

What is the 'birth' date? Drivers door pillar.

 

Equipment sticker in the glovebox?

 

sticker in box said 4 speed auto. birth date is 8-02

 

I believe that is a 47. The 48 wasn't until the middle of 03 or 04. Someone else will be along with a definite answer soon

if the shifter says o/d on/off then its a 47re if it says tow/haul its a 48re...

Whats the H.P. rating on the valve cover? If its 305 its a 48re.It can still be a 48re if lower horse but on that early a 3rd gen its more then likly a 47re.Dealer can pull/print a build sheet on your truck in a few minutes.

 

Go to Pacbrake.com to Techinical Literature artical L5807. It has a couple was to tell if you have a 47 or 48re.
