OK SuperGewl-Here's the axle info: Quote from the Allpar website-
http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/ram-heavy-duty.html
All-new rear axles (10.5 inch ring gears on 2500 models and 11.5 inch ring gears on 3500 and 2500 diesel/manual models) contribute to increased gross vehicle weight ratings, with a best-in-class rating of 12,000 pounds on the 3500 Diesel/4x4. The standard rear axle ratio is a 3.73 with a 4.10 ratio available as an option and provides an additional 2,000 pounds of towing capability. Dodge Ram 3500 rear axles have a GAWR of 9,350 pounds.

Well CTDinMT, I do believe you may incorrect. All of the 2500's with auto's that I have seen have the same 11.5 AAM rearend
This was my understanding:
2500s with the SO motor and 47RE had the 10.5.
2500s with the HO motor and 48RE had the 11.5
I don't know about SO's with 48REs.
All-new rear axles (10.5 inch ring gears on 2500 models and 11.5 inch ring gears on 3500 and 2500 diesel/manual models) contribute to increased gross vehicle weight ratings
My understanding was that this was true when the trucks were released, but changed when the 48RE allowed the HO motor to be paired with an auto.
