A rokktech crank sensor will get you about .5 MPG. The best thing to do is keep it under 70 MPH. If you had a boost gauge you could drive by it keeping the boost under 10 psi. Try to keep the Torque converter locked. It normally locks around 45 MPH empty and unlocks at 40 MPH. A Quad box will get you 2 or 3 MPG gain. They have a new max mileage module too. You can get up to about 17-18 MPG max on the back roads with summer fuel.
Edit: You have to weigh the cost and see if it is worth it to you. Driving style change is the cheapest.

By the way, are you using OD lockout/ Tow Haul mode when towing? No need to unless you are lugging the engine or on a steap grade. All you will do is just burn up fuel. Towing I get 10-12 MPG. Mine is a 2wd.

Overheads are not so accurate. I hand calculate and that is even prone to error due to how much fuel you sqeeze in the tank each time. Towing my TC will not lock until 50 MPH.

I have seen a best of 17.2 going 70 - 75 from CT to MD but thats the only time I have broken 17. The highest I have got driving around home is 16.7 and 16.5. Normally I get between 15 and 16. But if you keep it at 60 or less the mpg is considerably better, but 60 in most situations on the highway is too slow. 55 will get you some awesome mileage but its the same situation as 60. BTW mines completely stock getting that so if once it breaks in and I get some mods on it, if it breaks 17 consistently I'll be extatic.

Purchase a 6.7L
Don't know what you're towing, but I have averaged 12.5 mpg towing a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 on a 2007 GatorMade 16+2 car hauler. Dragging the trailer back empty.....I averaged 14.9 mpg. Truck has around 8300 miles on it.

I get between 7-10 pulling. And believe me somedays I can't believe I did as good as 7
If I turn the TST off I am in the 5-8 range.
Another thing the truck tires on my truck helped the milage out a little to.
8 mpg isn't bad if its a big load and your going 80
