2nd gear stutter

2nd gear stutter
I have a stock 2005 with a 4speed auto.
From a dead stop I accelerate with the rpm's at 2000. When the tranny shifts the rpm's drop to 1800 and if I hold it there the rpm's will surge between 1800 and 1900 and you can feel the truck surge. My local 5 star dealer that I don't recomend tells me there is nothing they will do.
This is the same dealership that never heard of the high idle, I kept working my way through their people until I found someone that would listen to me and would enable it. They did it for free telling me what a big favor they did me by not charging me.
Any ideas on the tranny ?

Today I took the truck to a tranny shop and let the owner drive it.
He told me what I am feeling is "shift overlap" between 1st and 2nd gear.
The way he explained it is the tranny is in both gears for a second before 1 st lets go. He said this builds up heat and puts additional wear and tear on the tranny.
I was also told expierences that others have had with the dealership that I am dealing with.
Has anyone called the number for Dodge that is listed in the owners manual? Is it helpful or a waste of time? I am thinking of getting help from the powers above since I am not getting anywhere with the five stars!

When you say surge. What do you mean. Is it slipping at all. Second gear seems to be an issue with the 48re. Mine is going back to the dealer on Monday for 2nd gear slipping again and the blown U-joints

I am taking mine back to the dealership for the 5th time for the tranny. It is like it is in both 1st and 2nd at the same time(shift overlap) for a few seconds.
Supposedly last week they rebuilt the tranny with no success in solving the problem.
Atleast they have stopped denying there is a problem.
They also are replacing the kick down band...what is it?
