Re:2100 rpm vibs getting bad

sorry, this vibration issue has been kicked around alot. i feel most of agree it is engine cooling fan-a/c related, as it only seems to rear its head when the a/c is on and at aprox 2100 rpm.

Hummmmm....... I came across a TSB for the cooling fan on diesels made south of the boarder. The TSB is in www.dodgeram.org and look under TSB's, seem the fan bolts were not installed correctly. You will have to read the TSB to see if it applies to your truck.

The gentleman (HOJO) was just trying to offer his help. Don't complain about your vibration if you're not going to listen to people's sincere attempts to help you....even if their suggestions don't work. :

I was using my truck to jump start a truck on a service call the other day. When I looked at my truck with the engine running I was shocked to see more then 1/4" run out on the fan. It really looks bad running. Got to wonder if that is my vibe. I'm going to have to find time to run it without the fan and see what happens.

THe 2003 I had with the dreaded VIBE, was a 6 sp and HO, My vibe went away instantly IF, I turned off the AC.

Anyone else notice this. Turn off the AC and no vibe. Turn it on and BAM vibe is back. Vibe is always around 2000RPM

[/quote]

I have the same thing happen. If I turn off my AC I virtually get rid of the vibration. I noticed it as I was driving my truck home from the dealership, and now 6 months and 30,000 miles later it is still there.

It is not a constant vibration with the AC on, it will go away for a short period and then vibrate again.

I am not saying all the vibration is totally gone after shutting the AC off, there may still be some vibration but I do not feel it is all I am saying.

THE ONLY VIBRATION OR SHUDDER I HAD WAS WHEN I WOULD TAKE OFF, I THINK IT WAS AROUND 1700 RPM, SAME HAPPENED TO MY POWERSTROKE, TOOK IT TO HTE GUY THATS BUILDING MY RACE CAR AND ASKED HIM TO CHECK THE PINION ANGLE. WAY OFF, THEN HE ADJUSTD IT, NO MORE PROBLEMS.

Re:2100 rpm vibs getting bad

My 2000 rpm vibration is in the drive line some where. If you get up to 80 mph and put it in nutral and coast I get the vibration around the same speed 70 mph. If I get to 80 and turn off the motor the vibration is still the same around 70 mph. This tells me that the vibration is somewhere from the transmission tailshaft through the transfer case into the driveline. I am on my third drive shaft. Had the tires force balanced. And it goes back to the dealer again Monday for the vibration. I would like to get e-mail from people that do not have the vibration to see how their trucks are equipped and when and where they are made. This would help me out.

Re:2100 rpm vibs getting bad

Not really sure if I had the 2100 vib as bad as ya'all but reading about it made me believe that I might...One TDR post was eluding to power steering hoses. So, yesterday I looked under the hood, and found that the hoses that go down to or near the pump and up past the drivers side battery were bumping/rubbing against the battery cable and each other near where they pass the battery cable. The plastic spacer that is supposed to hold these hoses apart was slipped way down near the pump, so I popped it off and put it up where it would do some good. Anyway today I couldn't get it to vibrate the wheel at all.

I also partially fixed another rattling problem while working on my baby - see my other post.

Re:2100 rpm vibs getting bad

for all those living with the '03 Cummins that shivers like a dog passing razor blades- there may be hope. mine's done it from about 3k- now at 9500. Seems worst at 70 mph and up. Vibe is evident in the seat (puts your rump to sleep), gas pedal and a bit in the steering wheel- kind of like holding on to an electric shaver. Dealer confirms same. Said Chrysler has all but admitted there is a problem and it appears to be in the hydro boost-- tsb should be coming out soon according to dealer- let's all collectively hold our breath...
