Unhappy 2007 5.9 trans hold back

I bought this trk with 40km and it now has 140km. If the cruise is on it has always held back on a down hill trying to maintain the speed. It did really well until. Number 5 injector stuck open and ruined my engine. Replacement was done by local dealer. Replacement engine is out of a 2006 and runs strong and well. The problem is that the truck no longer holds back smoothly on a down hill when in cruise. now something engages and releases with a heavy thump. I have contacted FCA and they say contact dealer. Finally after three years I have been able to take Service Director on a road test and he now has seen what is happening and agrees something is not correct. They installed test equipment and apparently trans does what it is supposed to. FCA has now told dealership that all 2007 act this way. Dealer is trying to find another local 2007 diesel to make closer comparisons as they say that the way my trk works is wrong. I need the cruise working properly due to medical problems. I am asking anyone who has had similar problems to contact me. Thanks

Sounds like the dealer is stalling hoping you'll go away.

The trans downshifts from OD automatically in the Tow/Haul mode. I never had mine downshift automaticly in straight overdrive going downhill.

The dealer is not stalling nor am I. I stated that the problem is the unit slamming in and out. If any Mopar unit gas or diesel is in cruise the trans will try to hold set speed while going down hill. Mine used to do that smoothly before an engine replacement.. Now it slams in and out with a clunk sounding like trans will soon be on the road.

Will be watching this, my 07 with 5.9 bucks pretty hard sometimes with the cruise on coasting down hill. I can't replicate it with the throttle. Only temporary solution is holding the decel button on the wheel until the grade flattens out.

Had you had any work done on your vehicle? I have some good people on this problem and will pass on any information that we can dig up.

I haven't had truck for a year yet, has done it since I have owned it. Not sure of history, besides it was in good shape with a reman Jasper trans at 165k, now has 180k. No signs of any programmers or performance parts at all.
