2006 Tach out
My tach started acting crazy a few months back. It has now spun around and is pegged on the backside of the rest pin. Not that I need it, but how hard is it to replace the sending mechanism? Anyone?

Don't hold me to it but I believe I read a post on here a while back where that's a pretty common occurence on 2006 model year. I think the gauge cluster has to be repaired as a whole....but like I said, don't hold me to it. Someone will chime in on this for the repair procedure.
Good luck with it and keep us posted as others will need to do the same repair at some point.

Getting the cluster out is a job the first time you do it, though.
My '06 had similar problem and I sent it to Whizard and have been using it since May and it works perfectly. I highly recommend them. Very professional and "Tom" is easy to reach by e-mail or phone.
You will find more discussion of this problem, especially on '06 here if you search.
Some things I learned on my initial search. The mileage is stored in the cluster and must be reset by a dealer if you buy a new cluster and the total bill is $400 - $500.
Whizard also polished the clear plastic lens for free even though he normally charges $20 extra for that.
Good Luck!
