Hello all just starting a big project bought a 2006 mega cab larmie 4x4 with 6 spd previous owner left this thing for dead, they had collapsed a air filter so the truck has a lot of blow by and i mean alot, he let the rust on front fenders get way out of hand and 2 sets of bush wacker fender flares wouldnt cover it,, so he parked truck for a 2 years and i bugged him enough for it, i am in the middle of pulling engine and plan to do a rebuild on it, have many people had luck with just a good hone job and a set of rings or will i need to bore .020 over? i will post some pics once i have the engine out

 

Got the engine out and tore down broke rings on 4,5,6 cylinders 4/5 rings stayed in the lands but in #6 they escaped and did a fair bit of damage hopeing to get away with a salvage sleeve on that cylinder and a good hone on the rest of them, its at machine shop now so hope to hear in a few days

 

So i havent updated in awhile but i ended up haveing to sleeve #6 and #5 had funny wear so i ended up boreing all of them out 0.020" as i was installing the pistons ended up breaking a oil ring so had to wait a few more days for the new ring set to show up but it is all back together then the clucth hyd gave out so did a new master and slave, got the truck running and driveing have about 1000 km on it so far and everything seems to be just fine. Time for the first oil change soon
