2006 Front Wheel Bearings

Can anyone tell me how long it will take to changeout the front wheel bearings on my 2006 3500? Looks pretty simple just not sure if I'm missing something.

Thanks.

The tough part is pressing hub from the axle. Somebody recently posted a way of using the power steering to press it out, but you'll have to search for it. You stick a socket between the axle and the housing right there where the u-joint is at the steering knuckle, and turn the steering wheel to use the power steering to press the hub off the outer stub-axle. You'd have to see the pictures. Hard to explain.

I never tried it, due to lack of time, so I took it to a garage. The billed me for three hours per side to change out my bearings and install free-spin hubs and new u-joints. Figure two hours per side for just the bearings at most garages.

I think this is the one thenrie might be referring to. If it's not then at least it is a good writeup to read over.

Thenrie, how do you like the dynatrac BJs? Mine are on their way out and looking at those.

How long is a tough question. It is relatively easy to do, however, depending on how rusty your truck is, or whether or not they have been removed before makes a world of difference. On my 2002 it took 8 hours of banging, heating and pressing to get them out, and that was in two pieces. On my 2006 they had been removed before so it took me about 2 hrs taking my time. Lots of good wirte ups on tips and tricks on how to do it so search and see what fits you best.

Took me about 3 hours and I'm no means an export. Heck if it wasn't for DTR I wouldn't be able to change my brakes..

Longest part was removing the hub itself. The power steering trick worked great. I also starting spraying the assembly with PB Blaster about 2-3 days before hand.
