2006 dodge ctd steering rattle
Just curious if there is anyone out there with the 2006 ctd 2500, that may be or have expierenced any kinda of rattle in the steering column, foot pedals????? there are two of us so far that have this issue we are looking for the solution.. no dealer has yet to find the problem some dont even think there is a problem ...i have had the drive shaft and left front tie rod replaced so far and it hasnt fixed the problem..
i believe its a steering box issue but i am not a mechanic.... this rattle isnt really associated with bumps or anything it just kinda doesnt when it feels like sometimes worse then others.......any help is appreciated...

Had the same problem on an 06 Mega with 8K miles on it. I found the output shaft of the steering box loose. Dealer replaced, but still didn't solve the problem. It was driving the boss nuts. Finally Dealer replaced the entire steering column, I thought THEY were nuts, but no more clunks .

just went through hell with borgeson -buying an aftermarket steering shaft- reason for the problem-all their "950" shafts for the diesel dodge rams don't fit!! they will only fit the gas trucks! borgeson made me one up and i installed it yesterday. 100% better!

Well unfortunately the dealer says they are at a stand still becasue they no longer hear or feel the problem.....they are contacting the Dodge factory rep and i am waiting to hear back from him.......its driving me nuts...plus i am leaving for florida on saturday so i will have the rattle all the way down and back....great.

I have recently developed a very small clunk in the front end, you can feel it in the steering wheel. I checked the front end of my truck myself and found everything to be nice and tight with the exception of the pitman shaft on the steering box, it is walking back and forth creating a very decernable clunking sound, it is also leaking p/s fluid. I brought my truck and 5ver to the dealer for a shutter I have been getting when starting off from a stop, only happens with my 5ver on the truck, the tech at the dealership verified both concerns, the s/m stated he will order a new steering box along with parts to fix the shutter. Truck goes in next week. I'll keep you posted.
