2005 Questions...?

I have an 05 3500 as well. I have had it to the dealer for a couple of small things. Cd player quit, rattle in passenger door. Other than that I love the truck. It will run with the best of them with a few mods. Around town about 17 out on the road 20-21.

Love my 05' as well. Two issues, one highly uncommon - windshield wiper switch went bad, wipers not working at all. Out of the 3yr/36K mile warrantee, $50 part and 20 minutes of my time to replace. The other is somehwhat common - u-joints needed at 41K miles. Some have been fortunate enough to get these replaced under warrantee. I needed it done ASAP, with an upcoming holiday weekend with a trip planned I did it myself to save the hassle of dealing with the dealership. Parts were in stock at NAPA. OEM joints have NO grease zerks, replacements do.
Been doing roughly 10K mile oil changes with full synthetic. Every tank of fuel has Power Service (white or silver whichever I can get) or Stanadyne added to it. Average 14.5-15.5 on winter fuel and 16.5 -17.5 on summer fuel with a heavy foot. Low fuel milage of 11.5mpg pulling a trailer (gross combined verhicle weight of 18K pounds) through WA, ID, MT at 65mph into a 20-30mph headwind most of the way. This same load in IN, IL and OH where it's flat and there was no wind I was able to get 14.5. Then 11.5 again driving empty at 80-90 mph through AZ, NM into a 30-40mph headwind. High fuel milage of 21.5mpg driving 55-60mph across Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas for 450 or so miles.
Premium diesel fuel, when I can find it (rare indeed), nets me 1.5-2mpg better than the 40 cetane garbage available most everywhere. Worth the extra cost in my opinion. Oh, and about 1/4 of my total fuel usage has been B20 biodiesel, no problems so far.
Good luck on getting a great deal!

I bought my 2005 in January, 2007 with 18500 miles on it for $29,000. It is a quad cab, automatic, 4X4, long bed SLT with the Longhorn package. It also had a Roll-N-Lock bed cover and a spray-in liner. Also has Infiniti radio, a nice extra. I can only get 17 mpg at 63 mph on the open highway. So far I love the thing except for the headlights. They stink.
