I have an 05 Crew Cab 2500 automatic that I drive daily on the freeway at 75+ and its as smooth as a car. I have no vibe or drone what so ever. I also test drove an 05 Crew Cab 3500 dually 6sp and didn't feel any vibe or drone in it either.

 

had 2004 developed peck in engine at 30000 miles traded in on 05 same tick at 3000 miles now think its nothing more than noisy injector love the truck anyway had 6 previous dodge diesels also highly recomend 6speed 04 truck was auto didnt care for it but i pull a heavy load a lot

 

I would DEFINITELY turn it down and run away!

I have the vibe. Dealer tried to fix it, said they removed 99% of the vibe. Drove it home and the dash vibrated worse than before and the cars in the rearview mirror were super blurry because of the vibe. I pick it up again tomorrow after they said it has been fixed. Anyone want to take a bet that it is not any better? I sure hope it is.

By the way, the vibe is not that bad during a 10 minute test drive. After about 15 minutes in the vibe window (70 - 80 mph on my truck), it starts to drive you NUTS. I can't help but wonder what all that vibration is doing to my diff, tranny, engine, etc.

 

3200 miles on this baby and no problems and no vibration. Just alot of enjoyment!

 

mine has over 6000 miles. Has lots of power, no vibe, no gripe......except 15.5 MPG empty.

 

Slight drive line shudder when taking off from standing start. Worse when going around a corner or on slippery pavement. Dealer said it was a common problem on quad cabs. I took a look at the drive shaft from the tranny to the center carier bearing. I shimmed the carrier down 7/8 inch and eliminated the problem. Dealer warned me that with the shim when I was towing the shutter would come back. Towed 6K trailer with bed full of dirt bikes and no problems.

No real problems. Carefully researching mods. Set of Isspro gauges on the way. (Isspro to release a white dial fuel gauge in about a month.)

 

I have 650 miles on my new 2500 Quad, SWB, auto. I haven't felt any 70 mph vibe yet and hope not too. Only complaint I would have is that it takes a little bit to start. Sounds like a gas engine starting. I mean that it cranks a few times before starting though it does start relatively good. My old truck (92 ram, diesel) with 245,000 miles and sitting for 2 weeks would fire right up after 2 revs of the motor. It still starts faster then this new one though the new one has a lot more electronics to deal with before starting probably. I don't know if there is a TSB about starting, haven't found one yet.

I get about 15 around town empty. Love the ride though.

 

This took a little getting used to for me as well, as my '99 would start instantly. It's just a normal side-effect of the new injection system. Your battery has plenty of juice to crank it over a couple extra revolutions! And if you run out of fuel in the new truck, it will start a whole lot easier than your old one.. a lot less cranking, and no bleeding of the lines neccessary.

As for my '05 SWB QC, I am still loving it!! I have almost 19K on it, and so far no problems! I have noticed it sounds a little different than when new, and my MPG might be down a tad, but I think that's just my heavy foot getting used to the power and abusing it more often. Oh wait, there is the door seal thing, but it doesn't leak (air or water) so I don't pay much attention to it. I'll take it in before my 36k is up.

 

all you guys with the vibs are starting too scare me. Bought my truck two weeks ago. 6sd. dually. 1200 so far no vibs at any speeds.

One problem tho, its been raining like crasy here lately. getting a little leakage in cab. couple drops by front window by computer. May be coming from cab lights. Anybody have this? Should I take it too the dealer or try too fix it myself?

 

No problems yet (knock on wood!) but the truck is less than two weeks old and has less than 500 miles on her!

 

Headliner is a pain. Take it to the dealer.

 

I keep checking my door seals almost every time I hop in the truck. I haven't noticed any problems with them yet though. I know there is a TSB on them so am just waiting to have it go bad and tear or whatever. Good to know about the starting issue. I figured it was just the nature of the beast due to all the electronics and fuel system. Never had a problem with the old 92. Even if changing out injectors. **** thing would start right up after a couple of cranks and never had to bleed any lines. So simple on the less electronic stuff. But it sounds like it might be more fun with just adding a box or something to get instant power on these new ones.

 

1 Big problem.Not enough Time to Drive it.

 

My '05, 3500, has yet to get 500 miles on the meter and had to be towed in today, crankshaft position sensor, dealer doesn't have it in stock, bummer.

 

Sounds fishy.

If the crank position sensor fails, the cam position sensor (same part number) should take over and allow the engine to keep running (although they run rougher). I personally have disconnected the crank position sensor, started the engine, and drove it around to prove it to myself.

The only reason the cam sensor is there is to be redundant to the crank sensor.
