I have a 2005 Dodge Ram SLT 4x4 CTD with 130,000 miles on it.

My truck has been misbehaving over the past month. Initially had a huge amount of smoke then that went away and it was slightly hard to start then the truck ran a little rough for the past few months but was getting better gas mileage then today I was driving and all of the sudden I hear what sounded like a loose nut under the valve cover. I immediately turned the motor off and coasted to a stop. I popped the hood and wanted to get a closer look at it and when I started it it I heard what sounded like a nut getting thrown around the valve cover. It is nt a regular noise but it seemed kinda random. It was pitch dark so got it towed home. I will look at it first light, but wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions or experience with the same. It has nt thrown any error codes and now wont start. it does turn over.

Got the answer from the mechanic today. My #4 valve seat dropped and banged on the piston. We need to take the head off and check the damage.

 

Dang it man, that sucks.

 

Man that sucks. Hope it didn't damage the cylinder wall.
