2005 Dodge Help Need Info ???

I hope I have not placed this in the wrong spot.Hey there sir, I have been a long time fan, member and lurker on here, had a few nice 1st gens, a couple 96's and was trying to find an 01-02, but now all of a sudden a good deal on an 05 4x4 long box quad cab has come up. This truck is bare bones NO OPTIONS,rubber floors etc. Has an Automatic, 4x4,A/C,tilt wheel, tow package and thats it. I am not so concerned about the options, its EXTREMLY CLEAN silver paint, black interior, and only has 11,875 miles !!! I have checked truck top to bottom, its never been crunched or hit, non smoker truck, seems to have 3:54 gears, I think.....Here's my question aside from getting an aftermarket fuel filter system, as I read in one of the posts on the site.....What do I need to be aware of with these new trucks ??? Do the 05's have any serious issues or known problems that I should be aware of ??? Or try to be on top of before they start ??? About me, I am a SUPER FREAK about maintenance, and have a fair bit of past Cummins experience, although mostly with the 12 valvers and the earily 24's. I made a huge mistake a few years back getting rid of a truck I liked, thinking I could get a deal on another one, and have never found a truck clean enough for me that I thought was priced right. Any help would be wonderful, I am ready to pull the trigger in the next day or so, if I hear good things back from you folks, again thanks, Canucktrucks

Any 3rd gen is good and they all have their little quirks. IIRC, I think the 05 has the plastic intercooler and the seats stain easy? If the price is right take it over an 01-02! After that, read, modify and fix/upgrade as required. I would guess 3.73 rather than 3.54. Upgrading the fuel filtering would probably be your best and most economical preventive maintenance. If working it, the auto may need some after market attention.

Good luck.

I bought mine brand new. Only had a problem with two u-joints and the A/C door recirc door. I've got over 60,000 miles on it and I love the truck. Best one I have ever owned and I've owned several different types.
If you like it and the price is right then don't hesitate. Buy it.
