2004 fuel tank ?

2004 fuel tank ?
Anyone know what the 2 barbed fittings at each end of the top of the factory fuel tank is used for? I have an aux. fuel tank in the bed that is t'ed into the filler neck and the fuel drains through these to barbed fittings.
