2004.5 Jake Brake
I haul a 12,000 lb 5th wheel and would like to put a jake brake on my 2004.5 4x4 automatic trans but have been told there is no brake available for my truck. Anyone have one on their 2004.5 automatic? Also would this void a warranty?
Thanks

I dont believe Jacobs makes one for our 04.5 w/autos. Last I checked, you could only get the Jacobs for 06 and up autos. because the tranny or ecm had something different about it.
I do believe you can get an exhaust brake for your truck though... Try PacBrake, or BD, or even Banks. I think you will most likely need a torque converter lock up control box. Otherwise you wont slow anything down, just make alot of heat in the tranny.

PappyTX, I was looking at the Jacobs website and found the description of the product somewhat contradicts itself... Check out this link...http://www.jakebrake.com/products/ld-exhaust.php
In one section is says "The Jacobs Exhaust Brake for 2005 and prior model years will not be available" but then at the bottom of the page it has this chart...
OEM Engine Application Brake Model Product Name
Dodge-Cummins
B5.9 Dodge Ram TMVO 1989-1998 Jacobs Exhaust Brake®
ISB Dodge Ram TMVO ‘98.5-’02 Jacobs Exhaust Brake®
ISB Dodge Ram TMVO ‘03-’04 Jacobs Exhaust Brake®
ISB Dodge Ram TMVO ‘04.5-’06 Jacobs Exhaust Brake®
So maybe you should call them and ask what this means.
Hope this helps some more.

I have an 2004.5 with an Auto. I looked into it also and found that you can not add it to the auto version. At least for that year ans spec. of truck. Darn it. :-(

I just bought an 04.5 auto with a pac brake and ats transmission controller that synchronizes the torque converter lock up with exhaust brake engagement. Works pretty good.

Not true on the voiding of the warranty. My truck had a Pac brake when i went through 2 turbos. Replaced under warranty no problems. I just sent the brake back for testing but Chrysler did NOT void my warranty or threaten so.
