2004.5 Fuel Tank hose vents
Hey Everyone - Merry Christmass & Happy New Year. I have a quick question that I need some advice / help on.
I had to take off the flat bed of the truck for minor reasons but as a result, I noticed the fuel tank looks to have three hose barbs, two of which have hoses on them that look to be simply vents. I should have taken a picture but here is my best description. Two are located on the left and right side of the pump assy or you could say towards the front of the tank and rear of the tank as mounted in the truck. Are these simply vents? One of mine is routed nicely with the hose pointed down, the other has about 6" of hose and is sticking horizontal, not cool. If so, I will just fix the one that is not long enough.
The third barb is located where the lift pump is, this barb does not have any hose. Should it have a hose and if so, is it also a vent.
Thanks for all your help, I simply want to ensure no crap goes in the tank.

When I did the vent mod on my truck, I had to drop the tank. There were two vents on top, all they were, were barbs no hoses. I took some fuel rated hose and a plastic "T", put the hose on the barbs with the "T" in the middle. Put another hose on the barb on the "T" and routed it up the filler pipe. Drilled a hole in the plate that the filler is mounted to and stuck the hose through the hole. Now those vents are vented up out of the way and out of the elements.
Fixed another stupid design by Dodge. The Dodge Bros. must be turning over in their graves with some of the stupid stuff that is done on these trucks.
