Well it looks like we have the same truck except you have a bed cover. You get better milage then I do for sure, if I lock the cruise on 55 I can get 18.5, I have never seen this 20-21 that you mension.
I just checked my milage again this morning. 100 miles was pulling an empty car trailer, around 2200#'s. Another 100 miles pulling same trailer with a BMW on it. 1/2 trip was 70 mph, other half 60 mph
Then 250 miles back and worth to work (20 miles one way) max speed 60 mph
The milage came out to 14.8

Mudder
I guess I need to explain the 20-21 mpg statement a little better because I might have accidentally been misleading. [undecided]
Where I usually fill up is about 30 miles away from our house. There is road construction going on for almost that whole length of highway to our house and the max speed is 60mph. When I pull into our driveway after filling up it almost always has 20-21mpg on the computer. The days following we do a lot of different driving (mix of highway/city) and of course the mileage goes down but usually no less than 16.5-17mpg. I have checked the mileage by hand against the computer and it is almost dead on every time (which I think is kind of cool 8)).
So I guess what I trying to say in a long-winded kind of way is I think that if I continued to drive at 60mph then the mileage would stay somewhere around 20…?
Thank you for the reply
P.S. Nice truck by the way!

Sounds familuar

I do the same thing from work to home. It is 20 miles, speed limit is 55, usually set the cruise on 62. Have to slow down twice to 40 for little towns. The computer says 18.5 about every time I have tried it. I can live with it, just wish it didn't take such a dump when you start going 70 down the free way..... [undecided]

I do 75 to 80 on the highway in mine. Being an auto with 4.10's I'm running about 2400 RPM's. I get about 13.5 MPG. I'm not to concerned about the mileage as I don't commute to work and only use the truck when I run errands or pull my race car to the track. I only fill her up about once every two weeks if that.

When I take an empty trip I get about 18 MPG but that is on the highway. Everyone has different driving habits and the traffic situations differ, so therefore mileage will be different. The truck does what I want when I ask it to and thats all I need out of her.

well we finally got to tow our camper for some distance this last weekend on a little camping trip. we towed through a BUNCH of hills and the total mpg for the trip was 12.1 (90% towing 10% empty). still very happy with the mileage. i was used to around 7 mpg towing with all of our other trucks.

thanks parshal,

i think that i've about got it just like i want it . can't think of anything else other than an exhaust.

by the way, i notice that you are in colorado. my wife and i take her jeep out there a couple of times a year and go off-roading in the mountains. we usually end up in durango where we were married. in fact the first picture on our little web site (keep in mind it is far from finished) is just outside of buena vista colorado (trout creek pass i think). you live in a beautiful state. we hope to retire there in about 25 years
