Makes me glad I've just finished installing all new front end parts in my truck! I have (had? I hope) the steering wander too, but new XRFs and a fresh alignment will hopefully cure that.

My recall states " 2003-2008 model year Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500 series Trucks that had the steering linkage replaced with MOPAR service parts." Doesn't distinguish 4X4 or 2X4. Help number is 1-800-853-1403.
I imagine I received my notice because I did have a previous recall and they replaced my steering linkage.
Give them a call better safe than sorry.
Also it says that if you have already had the work done they will reimburse you with proper receipts....

I got the recall notice in the mail on the second of January. If there is nothing wrong with the tie-rod end, then they won't do anything to your truck?
I don't think there is anything wrong with mine, it has never been in the snow or salt. I just don't want Chrysler to do that crazy recall where they change the flash and your horn blows if you are in reverse with the door open.
So I have ignored most/all the recalls. This one looks different.

I called a local dealer {about 50 miles away} they said "Bring her in Monday and that about one of twenty need the replacement. "He also said it would take longer to hoist the truck up than to inspect the ball joint". The replacement is not at their dealership according to him but if needed I can bring the truck back for the repair. I will be there when they do this and make sure they don't do anything but the recall. We travel a lot in the Spring/Summer months across the country pulling our fiver so I want it checked out.

Well, just a thought here....
so what if its only one in 20 trucks that need repair... what if yours is the one? I think ignoring a recall that is directly relevant to the safety of the truck, and therefore its passengers( not to mention whoever you may possibly hit with your 7800 lb missile) is leaning slightly towards the negligent side of things...
would you ignore a recall that said one in 20 trucks wold have the brakes fall off while going down the road?

Having given depositions in traffic accident lawsuits in the past, I can assure that vehicle maintenance IS an issue..and can bite you....and if the situation warrants it, it IS part of the investigation.

not trying to lecture or judge here so no-one get all huffy with me, just giving anyone considering ignoring this some food for thought..

It would be nice to get some new front end parts, but I'm wary of letting someone mess with my truck. I've got some steering wander, but it's because of the crappy Moogs that I put in there after my stock ones took a poo.

It it ain't broke...
This recall only applies to trucks that have had ALREADY HAD THEM REPLACED,
It says they MAY have installed wrong IF and WHEN they were replaced.

I went in yesterday, they didn't even look at my truck. Told them a few things and they said I was good.

This

230K miles on mine, three front ends later over the course of its lifetime.. and I buy the best parts that I can afford... I can let the wheel go at 70 mph and the truck drives straight as an arrow, tire wear is fine, and no wobble at all... why mess with it if it aint broken?

also my lovely worthless dodge facility in town says parts are back ordered nationwide...

its not a wonder why ill NEVER EVER buy local from my dealer

Just got back from the dealer who inspected my truck on the recall notice. Hundred miles round trip, all he did was look at the tie rod and said you have got the good one. He said "Some are clamped and some have a bolt through them". I had the one that was replaced on a recall several years back which updated the one I have to the 2008 type.

The steering linages with the bolt through them are the old style Haltenberger (Y) steering linkage assemblies. The Y style is not part of the recall. Those that have the clamp are the newer style Cross Car (T) steering linkage assemblies of which some are considered under the recall.

I had it in today and was told they are going to replace the ENTIRE front end. EVERYTHING! They did this in 2008 so this will be the 3rd f/e in this truck since birth 8.8 years ago. I have been complaining about wander until my warranty ran out and was told for the last three years there is NOTHING WRONG. I guess I have been vindicated. Nothing like quality.

I sure hope they get it right this time. Best check for tire wear after install plus the obvious wandering. Good luck!
