Exclamation 2000 RPM Vibration FIX TSB out

2000 RPM Vibration FIX TSB out As of Feb 10 2005 there is a tsb to fix a 2000 rpm - 65-75mph Vibration. Don't call or ask a deader for the TSB number. DC call ,fax it to the manger. They told him not to give it out until next week he said he has a copy of it and will fax it to me as soon as he gets the ok. The district manger didn't have a yet. This is the dealer that I turn my my 04 into that was bought back in dec and was ask by DC to try it and have fixed it and I have personally took it for a good drive and lets just say it was smooth as a babys but, from 65 to 80mph. I was very imprested and its about time. DC called the Dealer and had them do it before they shipped it out. There is one thing the fix may not work on all truck but the dealer said they will try it on every truck that has that Vib. Two out of three trucks were fixed just at this dealership.
Ok Here is what they did Balanced the driveshaft the old way on the truck and with claps they did it at the dealership. The TSB doesn't say order a new driveshaft but they did any way. I look and it was new but I didn't see any were they add or took off weigt. They told me they would do the same for my 04.5 that has the same vib if I wanted.

Cool. If they'll get on the mileage complaints some of the guys have, it'll be thumbs up for DC for standing behind their product.

How do you balance a driveshaft on a truck? Please give out this TSB as soon as you get it!

A driveline shop can balance the driveshaft. I'm guessing most dealers have them sent out to such a shop.

My new '05 does not have the 68-75mph vibe like my '04 did (both 48RE). I crawled under the '05. Both front and rear shaft have obviously been balanced much more so than the 04 The 04 had no weights on either shaft. This 05 certainly has weights on both shafts.

Seems like DCX could have come out with this TSB well over a year ago. Had I known it was only a case of balacing the drive shafts, I would have taken them off and had Jim's Drive Line Service in town balance them (~$50.00 a shaft).

I saw the TSB number on another post as well as over on TDR...Can't seem to find it right now.

Is this an issue only on 04 trucks or are the 03s affected as well? I've noticed a very slight vibration in mine at 2000 rpm.

Thanks..

My '03 4X2 long bed 47RE standard output had it so bad I traded it for a Hemi powered Ram. It wasn't motor. It would do it with the motor idling at 70-67mph and the tranny in neutral. About half the Cummins powered Rams have the vibe with any configuration. There are more 4X4 QC short beds with the vibe because there are more 4X4 QC short bed trucks period. The Hemi powered Rams don't have it for some reason even though it's not the Cummins causing the vibration. Something about the Ram/Cummins combo. Maybe the weight... Who knows....

Well heres a useful tidbit: I never had the vib until I put the extreme program in with the downloader. No I have it and it starts exectly at 70 mph. I will this weekend put it back to the towing program and see if it goes away. If it does I think it may be safe to asume it's something to do with the injection system, any thoughts?
