2 New Injectors!

Well I took my truck to the dealer twice because I was sure it had an injector going out. The first time was not a local dealer. They were about 2 hours away but a guy from church that I trust very much had recommended them. I took it to this dealer because I did not have a good feeling about my local dealer. Specifically, I had a gut feeling that the local dealer would charge me for something they shouldn't as the truck only has 66,000 miles and the engine is still under warranty. So, I told the first dealer (non-local) it was getting extremely poor MPG (13.8 hand calculated) and was blowing white smoke and stumbling at start-up. They did the injector kill test and re-flashed the ECM because of a TSB on these symptoms, checked fuel pressure and all that stuff. They said all injectors passed the injector kill test. Go figure. So I got home and the next morning it did the exact same thing. I then began to research these symptoms on this forum and decided that there was surely an injector going out. I decided to take a chance and take it to the local dealer this time and save the fuel costs of going to the other dealer. I asked them if they would pull the injectors out and test them and they assured me that they would. They called and said 2 injectors were bad and they replaced them but I would owe $100 for the deductible. I informed them that this was surely wrong because the other dealer didn't charge me a dime. I only had to argue for about 2 minutes to get them to remove the $100 charge. The service manager said "OH! There's no deductible for anything related to the fuel system." Like he didn't know that. Anyway, I have yet to drive it but I am looking forward to it and am very happy that they found those bad injectors.

They did do the right thing but my instinct was right about them trying to charge me for something they shouldn't. But it wasn't hard to talk them out of it.

injectors

I have had 7 injectors replaced on my 2005 , 1 set then 1 of the replacements failed right away. the truck has 79000 miles on it. the dealer said that the new fuel is causing pitting in the ball seat of the injector. the recons are from bosch and have a special coating on them. my neighbor works at the mopar parts depot and said that they have seen a large amount of injectors come through in the last 6 months.

they have a coating on them from bosch, because of 'needle side loading', and hard chrome added to the ball seat area, to combat 'common rail injector ball seat erosion'.
