which 2 cycle oil are you running in your fuel??
just went to wallmart looking for 2 stroke oil to add as a fuel lubricant replacement and it seems that someone on this forum was saying that the walmart brand is what they were having good luck with. now I know the oil has to be 100% petroleum based with no synthetics and have heard I want an oil with a tcw3 rating but the only oil 2 stroke oil walmart caries is supertech and no where on the bottle does it say if its a petroleum oil or synthetic blend. there isn't even a phone number on the stuff. is this what you guys are running?

Sometimes Valvaline brand from AutoZone or Kragen. It's cheap enough. But most of the time I run Yama-lube. I buy it in large quanities since I use that in both my Yamaha Banshee and Honda TRX250R. I used to use Maxima 927 Castor. But I've found that it's a very dirty oil. It leaves all sorts of soot in the top end of the motors and in the pipes. So I reasoned that the same effect would happen to my Cummins also. It sure does smell pretty tho........

2 cycle oil is meant to be burned so i dont think it matters how much u put in.i like the "if a little is good then lots must be better theory"i use a bottle per tank.mite be to much, mite be not enough whos to say.i dont think theres any proof 2 cycle oil is good or bad in a cummins.some say its quieter some say smoother idle, some say nothing.its just a habit for me,with my vp truck i wanted as much lube in the fuel as i could.

You would think with as many people that are now doing this, someone would have emailed Cummins by now and asked them what their stance is on this issue. I put a little oil in my fuel from time to time but some of you guys are putting in what I would consider to be a large amount.

but what gets me is the fact that super tech doesnt say if its a petroleum based oil or a synthetic blend. I bought some but Im not dumping it in till I know for sure what it is. I will be on the phone today finding out!

I put Valvoline multi-purpose 2 cycle oil TC-W3. It says it is "ashless", I have gotten better mileage in both my trucks with it. I use 1 quart every tank cause I dont fill up till the light comes on, usually around 30 gallons.
