Are you sure it'll fit?

I thought I read somewhere that the GM and Dodge 11.5" diffs are slightly different.

If it came out of a 11.5" AAM,it was from either an 8.1 or Dmax truck.

If it'll stand up to a Dmax,it'll stand up to a Cummins.

IMO the G80 (the "locker" in the GM trucks) is light years ahead of the crap Dodge uses. I've had a G80 in more than one truck and they worked very well. I always knew when it would lock and what to expect.

The LSD in the Dodge is a POS. It nevers works the same way twice.

Too funny.. My experiance is the exact opposite. I always know what the Trac-Rite will do, and the only thing predictable about the gov-lock was that it was un-predictable (well other than it likes to kick the truck sideways on off caber snow coverd forest service roads)..

Yeah I forgot it's not going to fit anyway. Dodge uses a larger axle shaft in the 11.5's behind the cumalong. The duramax uses a smaller axle shaft.

Thats normal for just about any LSD. They all do very poor at a stopped condition, especially in a high traction/low tractoin scenario. A little brake will help transfer power to the low traction side.

Also on a standard vehicle the right rear is the drive tire in D, and the left rear is the drive tire in R; its the way the spiders and R&P are setup.

Crazy Cooter said it. Check out any chevy forum and almost all the diff problems talked about will be an issue with the "Gov-Bomb." They got that term for a reason.

Sorry, not true. The Gov-Loc, Trac-Rite, Tru-Trac and ARB for the GM 11.5" or the Chrysler 11.5" are the same part number for each style of locker/posi unit.

Correct, they are both 30 spline axles.

The axle tubes are different diamater, but that doesn't effect the axle shafts or carrier.

Grass is always greener...............

Never replaced a busted Chrysler Trac-rite. Can't say the same for the G80 Gov-Bomb. My scrap barrel is always full of them! 7.5's, 8.5's, 8.6's, 9.5's, 10.5's, and 11.5's....they are all junk!

I have busted three 10.5 G80's myself!

this old man begs to differ. my 90 will spin both rear wheels on a 10 percent slope. one wheel on ice other on hard pavement. the 82 has a 9.25 with the so called junk cone type in it and it will do the same. won a bet with a chevy nut with both of them.

I stand corrected even though I'm sitting down.
