The key thing really does work. I had a Dakota that would do the same thing. The starter would not engage and the dash would go dead except for the tach. Then the truck would roll right past the speed limiter...

I know it's not something you would do on a regular basis but it does work

I haven't save up enough money yet to pay for the gas to see how fast my truck will go!

he would have to have an authorization from "dodge headquarters" to perform this work.

if he can't do any of this, why does he need auth. from dodge?

also, if i install a programmer to try and adjust the 2 inputs, they can detect that a programmer was used and possibly void any warranty.
is he givin' me a line of BS? lol

Look around, I believe I read on this web site, that the dealer can change the Speedo on an 06 by telling the computer it has a different ring set. (Example: stock 3.73 gears, tell the computer you have 4.10 gears) It could be the other way around, but I've been told it works and is pretty accrate.

The governor, you'll just have to get a programer.

Finally, I hope you didn't go to Lakeshore Dodge. Those guys are retarded... They gave me crap about changing the oil and doing my 30K tranny service because I have a Banks system. They said I voided the warranty and they wouldn't touch it. I told them I'm not asking for warranty work, I just want a freakin' oil change and tranny service. They said the only way they would do it was to "Charge me more" to work around the "Programer"!!! I quickly grabbed my keys and got the heck out of there.

I later brought my 05 to Champion to have them check and injector and recal my speedo ($30)... And they were working on it with out a problem. Just my luck a "Regional Manager" was there and walking around the shop and told them to not touch my injector because I had a programer. The did the recal and pulled me off to the side to tell me the other issue. I explained that the Banks system had nothing to do with a clogged injector and the service guy agreed. He gave me some advice to try without having to open the top end and told me if it didn't correct itself to Reschedule an appointment when the "Asshat" wasn't around and they would do the work.

So long story short, becareful where you go, and if a dealer is being completley unreasonable go else where. Not all dealerships are bad, and as long as you have someone working on the vehicle that knows what a programer can harm and not harm, they will cover what should be covered and let you know what is not covered due to aftermarket add ons.
